The Village and Surrounding Area
Situated in a beautiful valley and enjoying over 300 days of warm Mediterranean sunshine each year, this area has it all. The Vallespir is a year round holiday destination with fabulous coastal towns like Collioure, numerous Mediterranean beaches, mountain walks and the Pyrenean ski slopes all within a 40-50 minutes drive.

Arles-sur-Tech is a traditional French Village, the Abbey Sainte Marie is the focal point and dates back to the eighth century.
The village has all the essential amenities 4-5 restaurants, 3 well-stocked general and food shops (including a Spar), a number of boulangeries for your early morning bread, lots of charcuteries with all the local delicacies, and a number of cafes and other shops.

The River Tech, Only a Few Steps Away
When you come out of the house turn right and 50 metres away you come to the river Tech (pictured below), this river is used by bathers and fishermen alike. In the summer there is a bar, barbeque and boules area. This area is very popular with locals and every Sunday afternoon they gather for live music and dancing (this is definitely not a tourist trap and ideal for those who enjoy immersing themselves in local culture!)

The Nearest Villages
The surrounding area caters for everyone's needs, the closest village is Amelie les Bains (5 minutes drive) which has numerous restaurants and cafes and is renowned for its natural spring spa.
A further 10 minutes along is the wonderful town of Ceret (famous for its Cherry Festival and home to the Musee d'Art Moderne), it also has a fabulous Saturday morning market with numerous stalls selling all the local delicacies and fine crafts.
Heading in the opposite direction from Arles Sur Tech (right into the mountains) you will find the Medieval town of Prats de Mollo (about 20 minutes drive).

The Stunning Gorges De La Fou - Just 5 Minutes Away


Just head out of Arles-sur-Tech in the direction of Prats de Mollo and within minutes you arrive at the famous Gorges de la Fou - described as the narrowest canyon in the world!

Then of course, if you keep on going past the Gorges de la Fou for about 20 km, you have the stunning medieval town of Prats de Mollo.
Pretty much the last frontier before you arrive in Spain on this road (D115).
